Louden's Story
We should all Love Like Louden.
In April 2021, Louden Lofgren unexpectedly passed away from complications following routine surgery. He was just two years old. His family saw firsthand how important it is to have blood available on hospital shelves. And they decided they wanted to help.
They started by becoming blood donors. Then they organized a monthlong blood drive in Muscatine, recruiting everyone they could to help build the blood supply and build awareness to the need for blood. Three hundred people showed up to give lifesaving blood.
But they still wanted to do more.
So they organized Love Like Louden, a 5K and fun run, with proceeds going to support our mission. The race happened Saturday along the Mississippi River in Muscatine, where more than 300 participants helped honor the little boy gone far too soon.
In 2022, the Lofgren's continue to make an impact. Maggie, Louden's mom, and Olivia, Louden's aunt, joined ImpactLife's Quad Cities Associate Board and work to advocate on behalf of the blood center. In July, the family hosted an in-center drive bringing in much needed units during the summer months, and raising over $600 at a special event.
In the summer of 2022, the Love Like Louden in-center blood drive collected 145 lifesaving donations.
Louden continues to make an impact in this world. We’re honored to be part of his legacy.
