ImpactLife blood donors provide $6000 donation for HACAP Food Reservoir

Representatives from ImpactLife visited HACAP Food Reservoir in Hiawatha to present a $6000 donation from the blood center’s “Good Giving” donor promotion and to learn how the organization supports the charitable food system in east central Iowa. Volunteer blood donors raised funds for HACAP Food Reservoir through ImpactLife’s “Good Giving” donor promotion.

During the holiday season, ImpactLife blood donors were given a voucher to redeem for their choice of an electronic gift card or to donate the same amount to support local food banks in the blood center’s service region. More than 2500 donors directed their support to food banks for a total of $42,185 now being distributed to food banks that serve communities of the ImpactLife service region. From its distribution center in Hiawatha, HACAP partners with more than 250 local food pantries, non-profit organizations, churches, and school-based programs to distribute more than 7.5-million meals annually in seven counties of east central Iowa. HACAP Food Reservoir Director Kim Guardado provided a tour of HACAP Food Reservoir’s distribution center to representatives from ImpactLife on Thursday, March 23. Michelle Stebral, Territory Manager, and Kirby Winn, Public Relations Manager, were joined by two local blood donors who participated in the “Good Giving” promotion, Toni Mieras and Patricia Prokop. With access to discounted food purchasing programs, it is estimated that $1 can allow food banks to provide five meals, so the donation from ImpactLife blood donors will provide approximately 30,000 meals for individuals served by HACAP Food Reservoir and its partner agencies.
